Summary Reflection

For this assignment, I learned that design is really about being intentional and thinking about proportion, balance, rhythm, and how space affects things. Before this, I didn’t realize how much meaning comes from simple choices like where an object sits in a frame or how much empty space surrounds it. Looking closely at my own photos helped me see how everyday scenes naturally show design principles without even trying. It made these ideas of feel more real instead of just definitions.

What was harder than expected was how tedious the processes felt at times. Linking stuff, organizing the reflections, and making sure each example matched the right design principle took more effort than I thought it would. I’m still not a big fan of design assignments, mostly because they require a lot of small, detailed explanations. Even though the work itself wasn’t difficult, the repetition made it feel a bit draining.

What was easier than expected was actually identifying the design principles in my photos. Once I slowed down and looked, the examples were already there. The part I enjoyed most was having my friends look over my work and help me think through the explanations. That made the assignment feel less annoying and more like a shared problem‑solving moment. Even though organizing everything still frustrated me, especially the linking and structuring, it felt good to finish something I’ve never done before.
